Conventional
Precise and systematic
You are good at work that demands accuracy, consistency and standards. You are comfortable when things are documented, and you are the one who spots the figure that does not reconcile when everyone else has moved on. This is the most undervalued of the six types, even though a shortage of it is exactly what brings organisations down.
Where you are strong
- Accurate and consistent to a degree others struggle to match
- You catch errors before they become incidents
- You build systems that keep running
- Dependable with work that must not go wrong
Worth watching
- Uncomfortable when process is bypassed, including when flexibility is warranted
- You may focus on compliance more than on the purpose behind it
- You take on too much because delegating feels unsafe
Putting it to use
Fields worth investigating: accounting and audit, corporate finance, data governance, compliance and legal operations, quality management, business administration, internal control, supply chain. The environment that suits you values precision and says so.
Under pressure
When overloaded you tend to tighten process further. Sometimes that is exactly right; sometimes it is a way to feel in control when what is actually needed is asking for more resource.

The Holland model is widely used in careers guidance and has a reasonably solid research base for that purpose. Understand its limits, though: it measures interest, not ability, and it does not predict how well you will do. A result suggests directions to look into, not a list of jobs you should or should not take.
